Precious Facial Oil: Its Ingredients & Their Benefits

Precious Facial Oil

Have you met our new Facial Oil?! Precious is a luxurious facial oil that’s been designed to leave your skin feeling nourished and velvety soft. It’s a blend of ultra-moisturising ingredients including plant oils with a delicate but delightful lavender scent.

If you’re looking for firmer, clearer, and calmer skin, then you should consider adding Precious into your daily skincare routine. It can be used at day time but it is the perfect addition to your night-time routine, by itself or over the top of moisturising serums or creams. It’s best used as the last step in your skincare routine. So, it’s all about taking that precious time to take care of yourself and to treat your skin with something that will make it feel cared for and conditioned.

But you don’t have to take our word for it that Precious is the ideal product for a glowing complexion. We’re going to take a deep dive into the ingredients that make up this product and show you some of the science that was considered when making Kinvara’s Precious Facial Oil.

Why is it good to use a facial oil?

There are many benefits to adding facial oils into your daily skincare routine, but their overall purpose is to serve as an extra protection for your skin.

They provide your skin with moisture and lock in hydration which is essential to soften, nourish and maintain a balanced complexion for your skin. Facial oils also top up your skin’s natural oils which decline over time and therefore promote a healthy glow.

If you choose a plant-based facial oil that is packed full of antioxidants they can also help you to protect against free radical damage which can reduce the skin’s elasticity and cause signs of photoageing (otherwise known as sun damage).

 Bakuchiol

The first ingredient we are going to look at is Bakuchiol. Bakuchiol is a vegan skincare ingredient that’s sourced from the leaves and seeds of the Psoralea corylifolia plant, which is commonly known as ‘babchi’. Babchi has been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for centuries as a treatment for various skin conditions. It’s a new breakout ingredient within the industry that’s been labelled as retinol’s gentle sister. Don’t mistake gentle for less powerful though, this stuff can work just as much as retinol in reducing fine lines and wrinkles while boosting collagen. The difference is that, unlike retinol, Bakuchiol is non-irritating, vegan, and all-natural. It’s an ideal ingredient for people that can’t use retinol due to pregnancy, sun sensitivity or irritation.

A 2018 study confirmed that participants applying retinol reported more instances of a stinging feeling on the surface of the skin and skin scaling compared with those applying bakuchiol. Furthermore, both sets of participants saw a significant reduction in wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, with no statistical difference between the two compounds. So, bakuchiol gives you the same anti-ageing effects of retinol without the negative side effects.

 Squalane

Squalane is a hydrogenated version of squalene that is naturally produced in our bodies by the sebaceous glands to help keep the skin moisturised. Squalene must be hydrogenated to be used in skin care products to avoid oxidation. The trouble with Squalene is that once we hit 30, its production rapidly slows down so we need a dose of Squalane from skincare products to help keep our skin moisturised and glowing. The skincare industry used to source squalene from sharks’ liver before putting it through the hydrogenation process to turn it into squalane.

The squalane used in our Precious Facial Oil is derived from olives, but it can also be sourced from other plant oils like amaranth seed, wheat germ and sugar cane. The main benefit of plant-derived squalane versus animal-derived is that it is packed full of antioxidants which helps to protect your skin from carcinogens. And of course, we get to help keep the sharks safe!

Current scientific research found that Squalene is a detoxifier, it has anti-inflammatory properties (which can help with skin problems like acne, eczema, & psoriasis), and hydrates the skin. All in all, squalane is a wonderful skincare ingredient that will help to keep your skin supple, conditioned, and hydrated.

Lavender oil

When you think of lavender, most of you will think of the calming, soothing scent we are all familiar with. However, when applied topically, lavender oil can have a profound impact on the appearance of your skin. The oil that’s derived from the lavender plant has the ability to help reduce acne, lighten skin, and lessen the appearance of wrinkles.

It’s been proven to have antibacterial properties- even against bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics! Its antibacterial properties help to kill acne-inducing bacteria on the surface of the skin and to unclog pores. This creates a double-pronged attack against acne by targeting existing blemishes and helping prevent future breakouts by clearing away the nasty bacteria.

Lavender oil is packed full of antioxidants that help to protect you against free radicals which are partly responsible for fine lines and wrinkles appearing as you age. So, using lavender oil to fight free radicals can have an anti-ageing effect on your skin.

This fabulous skincare ingredient not only smells wonderful but can help reduce acne and slow the signs of ageing on your skin. How could we not put it in our all-natural Precious Facial Oil?!
