Have you noticed the delicate skin under and around your eyes has seen better days? Is your under eye area looking extra dark or veiny? If so..You probably have dark circles!
Dark circles commonly appear under and around the eyes. They often appear as darker patches of skin which can make the eyes look tired and can even age the skin, making the eye area look older. As the skin around the eye is super delicate, the colour and tone of the dark patches can vary from person to person. They may appear a deeper purple or brown on darker complexions and blue or even red patches for lighter complexions.
How to help manage Dark Circles at home in 4 steps:
We have compiled four of our favourite things to help manage your dark circles and under eyes.
- Cold Compress: First up, a cold compress is a must try! For the majority of people, the idea of putting ice cubes wrapped in a clean washcloth would not sound like an appealing idea but it can really help with and reduce swelling and shrink dilated blood vessels. The benefits outweigh the apprehension, as regular application of cold compress can reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles. Still not convinced? You can try dampening a washcloth with cold water and apply it to the skin under your eyes for 20 minutes for the same effect. Repeat the process if the ice melts or the face cloth becomes warm.
- Sleep is imperative: Catching up on sleep can also help reduce the appearance of dark circles. If you are feeling the effects of those late nights and early rises, it's important to allow yourself sometime to catch up on zzz's. Sleep deprivation can result in your skin appearing pale, which in turn makes the dark circles more obvious. Practice good sleep hygiene and aim for between seven to eight hours of rest, this helps to prevent dark circles from appearing.
- Staying hydrated. Drinking enough water throughout the day is also important. If your skin is thirsty and it appears dehydrated, this can cause dull skin and bags under the eyes which worsens dark circles and the appearance of under eyes.
- Use a lightweight hydrating under eye product: Remember that dark circles are easy to get and hard to get rid of. If you are looking for an under eye product as part of your skincare routine, our Eye Wow! Eye Serum might just be for you.
Everyday application of Eye Wow! is formulated to help reduce the appearance of dark circles. We have specifically chosen an extract of cedarwood (note this is not an essential oil but a specific component of cedarwood), that helps reduce the appearance of dark circles in a number of ways the most important of which is its ability to help regulate blood circulation which in turn can assist in the reduction red and blue tones associated with dark circles and water retention (or oedema) associated with puffy eyes.
An additional benefit is the brightening effect it brings, with more than 60% of 20 volunteers in an in vitro trial for this particular extract reporting that their eyes looked “brighter, fresh and energised”. This cedarwood extract is coupled with 11 additional, targeted active plant extracts to help give a complete eye care solution for you with regular use.
Results from our own survey of 15 existing Kinvara customers, undertaken in 2015, showed they all recorded significant improvement in specific areas, including wrinkles and dark circles, based on their own observations and self-monitoring.
