Remembering to practice self care while working from home can take some adjustment with the majority of people experiencing much busier home routines. A global pandemic has meant businesses around the world have had to rethink how their employees continue to do their jobs. Rented office spaces and daily commutes are a thing of the past with remote working now considered as the new normal.

Whether you are working home alone or find yourself faced with the challenges of homeschool and unmotivated children, there has never been a harder time to focus on work and maintain a healthy work life balance. Here at Kinvara Skincare, the team know all to well some of the challenges it can bring and we wanted to provide you with our top 6 Self Care Tips to improve your daily work from home routine.

1. Get dressed like you typically would for the office

At least from the waist line up.. Dressing like you typically would have, when physically going to your work premises can seem like a waste of time. Who's even going to see you? This may be what you are thinking but putting on a smart top or blouse is a great routine to get into especially for any impromptu meetings that pop up throughout the day.

2. Stay Connected

While working from home has its benefits, you may also feel more isolated. The daily chats with your colleagues and the morning coffee breaks are a great distraction for many whilst in the office. The good news is, there are lots of ways to stay in touch with those who matter. It is also a great mental wellbeing boost for all yourself and others. It is important to remember that human interaction is necessary and important. Having a weekly catch up or scheduling a ten minute daily video call are great ways to stay in the loop with the rest of your team.

3. Go Outside

Being cooped up inside all day everyday is not advisable for anyone and it can easily happen when you are working from home. Set aside 15 or 20 minutes of your break and soak up some Vitamin D (weather permitting)! Getting some fresh air will boost motivation levels and clear your mind which will allow you to focus on the things that really matter.

4. Take Regular Breaks

Don't forget to take regular breaks and get yourself a glass of water or a caffeine fix. Staring for too long at a computer screen can also strain your eyes, so its important to take short breaks and re-focus. You can tackle anything you want to with a clear mind so take a few minutes whenever you think there is too much going on.

5. Set and stick to a routine.

Setting a realistic routine is so important. Having clear boundaries between work life and personal life and knowing when to switch off is the key. One tip would be to try and incorporate as much of your old work routine in to your work from home routine as possible. Get up at the same time, get ready and have breakfast like you would have and once your workday is over, step away from the laptop and switch off. 

6. Remember to look after yourself

Most importantly dedicate some time out of each week to look after your mental health and make your wellness a priority. We recommend taking one or two evenings a week to do something you love.
